Bobby Cooper, retired window replacement professional, at a job site

My name is Bobby Cooper, and I'm a retired window replacement professional based in Shreveport, Louisiana.

After years of working with window companies and learning the ins and outs of window installation, replacement and home improvement, I developed a deep appreciation for the difference quality windows make in a home.

Along the way, I gained practical knowledge of window styles, frame materials, energy efficiency, measuring, installation methods and the factors that drive replacement costs.

Why I built FairPane

Replacing windows is a significant investment, and figuring out a realistic budget can be just as challenging as choosing the right windows. Most homeowners only hear a price after someone has measured, demonstrated and pitched, which makes it hard to know what's fair.

FairPane gives you that number first. The estimator prices your project window by window, and the guide explains what drives each part of the cost, so you can approach every quote and every decision with confidence.

What you'll find here

How the estimates are made

Every estimate adds up the window, installation labor, materials and trim, and the options you choose, then adjusts for your state. The numbers come from a cost model built on typical 2025 and 2026 window and labor prices and checked against my years in the trade. The details are in how the estimator works.

Editorial standards

  • Independent. I don't sell windows, and no manufacturer, retailer or installer pays to be mentioned or ranked on FairPane.
  • Ads stay separate. FairPane is supported by ads from Google AdSense. Advertisers don't see or influence what I publish, and ads are never placed inside the estimator.
  • No affiliate links. FairPane doesn't use affiliate links today. If that changes, every page that includes them will say so clearly.
  • Reviewed and dated. I review prices before every update, and each page shows when it was last reviewed. Prices were last reviewed in October 2026.
  • Sourced. Safety rules, energy ratings and tax information link to the agencies that publish them, such as the EPA, ENERGY STAR and the IRS.
  • Corrections. If you spot a price or fact that looks wrong, let me know. I'll check it and update the page.
